ANDROS ISLAND - Greece
Andros, the northernmost island of the Cyclades, has a long maritime tradition. Explore sandy beaches, rocky coastlines, water springs, hills and green plains! The capital of the island, Chοra (which means “main village”) is home to many famous Greek captains and ship owners; Take a look at the remarkable combination of medieval, neoclassical and island style houses.
Walk the village down the flights of stairs, around the public square and its narrow streets, visit some remarkable churches and museums, and take a break in its beautiful shops, cafes and restaurants. Don’t miss the Frankish castle located on an islet across the main island connected with an arched stone bridge dating back to the 13th century. Andros Island is well connected by ferries. Ferries between Athens (Rafina) and Andros in the Cyclades are available up to 6 times every day throughout the year.

FAQ: Traveling to Andros by Ferry
There’s no airport on Andros, so the only way in is by ferry — from the port of Rafina, not Piraeus. Most travelers fly into Athens International, then transfer to Rafina by taxi or bus before boarding.
Around 1.5–2 hours depending on whether you’re on a high-speed or conventional vessel.
Rafina is about 30km from central Athens and close to the airport — reachable by taxi (~30–45 min) or the KTEL bus (~1 hour).
Year-round, with roughly 3 daily departures off-season and 4+ during peak summer months.
Typically 30 minutes for foot passengers, up to an hour for those bringing a vehicle — worth stating your own site’s guidance here since it varies slightly by ferry company.
3 days covers the highlights; a bit longer lets you get into the hiking trails and quieter beaches.
